The Hutton House Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Gansevles as Executive Director, effective August 20, 2026.

Joe’s contributions at Hutton House for the last 15 years includes supporting individuals to achieve their employment goals. He currently serves as the Coordinator of Urban Agriculture and Sustainability. In fact, Joe has been the driving force behind the Hutton House urban agriculture initiatives beginning from the first major grant from the London Community Foundation in 2018 to start The PATCH. The PATCH is an initiative supporting individuals with food security needs while also providing them with skill-building and work experience to gain employment within an urban agriculture environment.

Through Joe’s leadership Hutton House locations have expanded to include The PATCH at 136 Cavendish Cres, Nathan’s Urban Farm at 900 King St in the Grove at Western Fair and the Innovation Centre at 379 Dundas St. Each of these locations offers unique indoor and outdoor growing experiences and training for the people that we support. Within these locations, numerous hospitality and urban agriculture programming have blossomed including a program called The ORCHARD, a multi year grant supported by the federal government since 2022.

Joe’ s outreach has fostered community initiatives related to food security, including partnerships with Growing Chefs, Middlesex London Health Unit, Urban Roots, New Moon Farms, the London Food Bank, Western University, Sanctuary and Indwell among others.

Joe’s vision was highlighted in a documentary series entitled Root Awakening that debuted this past February and is currently available on the Bell Fibe network. The documentary highlights Hutton House’s ongoing commitment to offering opportunities of urban agriculture for everyone. The Podcast series Growability: A Digital Documentary on YouTube featuring diverse creators of all abilities sharing information about urban agriculture, food security and community, also showcases Joe’s initiatives.
